With reference to your confidential despatch

of May 31st, 1927, concerning the payment to the Hong Kong,

Canton and Macao Steamboat Company Limited and the China

Navigation Company Limited of the Imperial Government's

contribution in respect of the Companies' losses during the

period September 3rd, 1925, to April 20th, 1926, I have the

honour to enclose a receipted duplicate of the voucher on

which the total sum ($65,323.22) was paid. The original

of the voucher is retained in the Colonial Treasury.
